Scott A. Ritch practices in the areas of banking and commercial law, real estate law (commercial and residential) and corporate, business and contract law.
Scott represents numerous financial institutions and other lenders, including national, regional and local banks, and borrowers in all types of financing transactions. He has over 25 years of experience in commercial transactions, including real estate and construction lending, asset-based lending, SBA and other government backed lending, lease financing, creditors’ rights actions, foreclosures and collections and loan “workouts.”
Scott also handles a wide array of small business transactions, including start-ups, business asset and real estate acquisitions and sales, all types of entity formations, buy-sell and cross-purchase agreements, non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements, non-competition agreements, as well as employment and various other corporate and business related matters.
Scott has a wide range of experience in real estate matters, including commercial real estate and commercial leasing. He was an associate in the real estate departments at Peabody & Brown (n/k/a Nixon Peabody) in Boston and Hinckley, Allen & Snyder in Providence. Scott represents or has represented a variety of major and smaller developers in the acquisition, development and sale of various types of commercial real estate, including office buildings, shopping centers and condominium projects. He has particular experience in commercial lease transactions, including ground leases, industrial leases and leasehold mortgages.
Scott represents or has represented various towns and other municipalities in Rhode Island as assistant solicitor and/or labor counsel and assists his firm by negotiating contracts for five Rhode Island towns.
Scott graduated summa cum laude from Providence College and Boston University School of Law, where he was a G. Joseph Tauro Scholar. He is admitted to practice law in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
